What is it for?

Whether you're a copywriter, student, community manager or marketer, text length is almost always a constraint. SEO title tags must fit in 60 characters, an X (Twitter) post in 280, an essay has a quota, a LinkedIn note caps at 3,000. This tool tells you where you stand in real time, without opening a heavy word processor.

Live counting

Words, characters with/without spaces, sentences, paragraphs: everything updates as you type or paste.

Reading & speaking

Reading time estimate (200 wpm) and speaking time (130 wpm) — handy for podcasts and presentations.

Top keywords

Spot the top 3 most-used words (excluding stop words) with their density — perfect to check your SEO angle.

How to use it

  1. Paste or type your text in the input area. Counting starts on the first keystroke.
  2. Read the stats in the right panel: main counters, sub-counters and time estimates.
  3. "Clean" button: removes multiple spaces and limits consecutive line breaks to 2.
  4. "Copy" button: copies the text to your clipboard in one click.
  5. "Clear" button: empties the field and deletes the local backup.

Tip: your text is auto-saved locally (browser only). You can close the tab and come back later. Nothing is sent to our servers.

100% private

Your text never leaves your browser. No server call, no database. Auto-save happens only in your browser's localStorage — invisible to us, and erasable any time via the "Clear" button.

FAQ

Is the text I paste saved anywhere?

No, never on our servers. Counting is fully done in your browser. A local copy is kept in your browser's localStorage (your machine only) so you can close the tab and come back. The "Clear" button removes that backup instantly.

How are words with apostrophes counted?

Like a standard word processor: "don't", "it's", "we'll" count as 1 word each. The algorithm recognises both straight (') and curly (’) apostrophes and binds groups correctly.

What's the difference between characters with and without spaces?

"With spaces" counts every spacebar press and line break. "Without spaces" removes all whitespace, giving the strict length of your textual content — often required by per-character translators or to size database fields.

How are reading and speaking times calculated?

We use industry standards: 200 words/min for silent reading and 130 words/min for comfortable speaking pace. For technical content, allow 10–20% extra.

What does "Ignore punctuation" do?

When on, punctuation marks (period, comma, brackets, quotes, etc.) are stripped before counting characters. Useful when your character quota covers strict text only (e.g. a brief that excludes punctuation).
