The "Winner Stays On" rule
It's the unwritten golden rule of every respectable gaming couch. When more than two players want to battle on a 1-vs-1 video game (Super Smash Bros, Tekken, Street Fighter, FIFA, Mario Kart, Mortal Kombat…), how do you decide who plays without it ending in a dispute?
The solution is simple: the winner stays, the loser steps down. The defeated player goes back to the end of the queue and the first in line picks up the controller to challenge the reigning champion.
Why use Controller Spin?
Strict queue
No more "whose turn is it?". The tool shows in real time who sits down and who waits, in exact order.
Anti-monopoly limit
A tryharder on a 10-win streak? After X wins in a row, they step down. Everyone plays, everyone has fun.
Leaderboard & history
Total wins, best invincibility streak, match timer: everything counted automatically.
How does it work?
-
Add players — type first names one by one. No account, no registration, no data sent anywhere.
-
Set the limit — 3 wins in a row by default, up to you. Set it to 0 to disable.
-
Start the session — the first two in queue face off. After each match, one click on "P1 won" or "P2 won" and rotation is automatic.
-
Export the ranking — at the end of the night, one click on "Copy results" and the leaderboard goes straight into the team's group chat.
Zero account, zero server
Perfect for…

- Impromptu Smash Bros tournaments

FAQ
Do I need an account to use Controller Spin?
Absolutely not. On Outilo everything is free and without registration. The tool starts instantly and even works offline once loaded.
What happens if I close the page by mistake?
No problem. Your data (players, scores, history, limit) is saved in real time in your browser via localStorage. When you reopen the page, you find your session exactly where you left it. To wipe everything, use the "Reset data" button.
Can I manually edit the queue order?
Yes. In the waiting list, use the small up (▲) and down (▼) arrows next to each name to adjust the order. Very handy if the "next" player briefly steps away or if you want to prioritize a friend who just arrived.
Does it work if we are only two players?
Yes. The queue stays empty and the loser instantly returns to the arena. The benefit with only two players: the match timer and the automated leaderboard to know who really dominates the duel over the night.
What is the win limit for?
This is the anti-monopoly option. If you set the limit to 3, a player winning 3 matches in a row steps down, even while on fire. The next two in the queue pick up the controllers. It prevents a tryharder from hogging the TV all night. Set it to 0 to disable the limit.
Is it mobile / tablet compatible?
Yes, the interface is fully responsive and optimized for use next to the TV on a smartphone. Buttons are large, the timer is readable, and the phone gently vibrates on each win (on Android Chrome).
