How to extract images from a PDF without quality loss?

Taking a screenshot or copy-pasting a visual from a PDF destroys its resolution. A PDF file encapsulates images in their original format and size. This tool digs into the document's code to extract that raw data. You get the real photos back (in JPEG, PNG, or WebP), sharp and ready for your designs, presentations, or archives.

A 100% free, local and secure extractor

Most online PDF converters force you to upload your files to their servers. Here, your document never leaves your computer. Extraction happens entirely in your browser using the power of JavaScript. It's faster (no upload time), and it guarantees full data privacy — useful for contracts, medical files, architectural plans or any sensitive document.

Which export format to choose: JPEG, PNG or WebP?

JPEG (Standard)

The best choice for extracting classic photos. Ideal ratio between image quality and final ZIP weight.

PNG (Lossless)

Best if the extracted images contain transparency or are charts with fine text. The ZIP file will be heavier.

WebP (Web optimized)

The ultimate modern format. Perfect if you extract these visuals to reuse them immediately on a website. Ultra-light files.

How to use it

  1. Drop your PDF into the zone (or click to browse). Maximum 50 MB to avoid saturating RAM.
  2. Pick the output format (JPEG, PNG or WebP) and turn on "Ignore < 100px" to skip small decorative icons.
  3. Limit the pages if needed (e.g. 1, 4-7, 42) — useful for a 300-page document where only a few pages matter.
  4. Enter the password if the PDF is protected: the tool detects it automatically.
  5. Grab the ZIP: one click, an outilo_[name]_images_[format].zip lands in your downloads folder.

FAQ

Can I extract images from a password-protected PDF?

Yes. The tool automatically detects if your document is locked and will ask you to enter the password to authorize image extraction.

How to get all the images at once?

Just drop your file in the designated area. The tool scans every page, isolates each image, and generates a ZIP folder containing all visuals in seconds. You can also use the filter to ignore small decorative icons.

Why are some illustrations missing in the ZIP file?

Some figures that look like images are actually vector elements (lines and fills drawn mathematically by code). Our extractor only retrieves raster images (made of pixels, like photos or scans).

Is there a size limit for the PDF?

We capped the upload at 50 MB to keep your browser from crashing. Since everything is computed locally on your device, a heavier PDF would overflow your RAM during ZIP creation.
