Review policy
Outilo collects reviews of its tools from signed-in members and guests. Reviews are voluntary, receive no reward and remain in their original language. One active review per tool and verified identity is allowed.
Checks and publication
Members use a verified account; guests confirm their email using a single-use link valid for 24 hours. Email verification confirms control of an address, not actual use of a tool. Dates of use are declared by the author. Outilo does not label these reviews “verified use”.
Every review is manually checked before publication, regardless of its rating. We check relevance, duplication, signs of fraud, unlawful content, exposed personal information and abusive advertising. A low rating is never a rejection reason. Outilo does not silently rewrite a review.
Maximum processing time: 14 working days after email verification or submission of a change, excluding weekends and French metropolitan public holidays. Delays trigger an internal alert and never automatic publication.
Display and changes
Reviews are displayed newest publication first by default. Rating, language and date filters are available. The average and distribution include only currently public reviews, across both interface languages; official replies are excluded. Submission, publication, update and declared-use dates are shown.
Changes are checked again. The earlier approved version remains public until approval of the replacement unless the author requests withdrawal or a justified moderation decision requires hiding it. Official replies are identified as coming from the Outilo team and their changes are recorded.
Rejection, reporting and appeals
Rejection reasons are spam, duplication, fraud, unlawful content, exposed personal data, abusive advertising or off-topic content. A reason and explanation are sent to the author. The author can correct or appeal through My reviews or a guest management link.
Anyone can use the free Report button to identify the content, provide a reason and explain a concern about authenticity or legality. Reports are reviewed by a person; they do not automatically remove a review. Decisions and appeals are recorded, and an incorrect decision can be reconsidered.
Personal data and retention
Public data are the display name, rating, review text, language, relevant dates and official reply. Email addresses, account links, security tokens and technical identifiers are private. Guest email addresses are encrypted; raw security links are not stored.
The proposed legal bases are performance of the review service for submission and management, legitimate interest for security and moderation, and applicable legal obligations for transparency and handling lawful notices. No marketing consent is implied. Reply notifications can be disabled; essential review-management messages remain transactional.
- Publication: 5 years from first publication, without automatic extension by editing.
- Unverified submissions: 7 days.
- Expired or consumed tokens: 48 hours.
- Rejected reviews and closed appeals: 365 days.
- Withdrawal is immediate; personal content is erased within 30 days, unless a documented legal requirement prevents it.
- Review email metadata: 90 days; minimized audit: up to 365 days after closure.
Use My reviews or a personal management link for access, export, correction, withdrawal and erasure. For other requests, use Contact. Hosting backups follow the backup retention policy and are not a second public database; erasure records must be reapplied after restoration. See the privacy policy.
