Why convert a HEIC file?
Since 2017, iPhones have stored photos in the HEIC format (High Efficiency Image Coding). Lighter than JPG, but poorly supported everywhere else: pre-2018 Windows, Android, older Macs, websites, word processors. The result: you send a photo and nobody can open it.
This tool converts your HEIC files to JPG (compatible everywhere) or PNG (lossless) in seconds, right in your browser. Nothing is uploaded to a server.
100% private: your photos never leave your device
Local conversion
All processing happens in your browser via WebAssembly. No upload, no third-party server ever sees your photos.
Batch conversion
Drop several photos at once. The tool converts them in parallel and offers a ZIP download.
EXIF detected
Metadata (date, GPS location, camera) is detected and a badge confirms its presence in the source file.
JPG or PNG — which one?
- JPG: recommended for photos. Lighter file, quality adjustable from 10 to 100%, compatible everywhere.
- PNG: lossless. Heavier, but keeps every pixel intact. Ideal for screenshots or further editing.
Drag & drop tip
Once converted, you can drag thumbnails straight from the tool to your desktop or a folder — no need to click Download.
FAQ
Does HEIC to JPG conversion lose quality?
At 90% quality or above, the loss is invisible to the naked eye. JPG uses lossy compression, but the difference is imperceptible on a standard photo. If you want a pixel-perfect copy, choose PNG (lossless) — the file will simply be heavier.
Can I convert multiple HEIC photos at once?
Yes. Drop as many files as you want into the drop zone, they'll convert in parallel. When done, you can download them one by one, drag-and-drop them to your desktop, or grab everything as a ZIP file.
Why can't my Android or Windows device read HEIC files?
HEIC is mostly used by Apple. Windows 10/11 requires a paid extension (HEVC) to open them, and most Android phones and older Macs don't support it at all. Converting to JPG solves the problem for good.
How do I stop my iPhone from saving photos as HEIC?
Go to Settings > Camera > Formats, then choose "Most Compatible" instead of "High Efficiency". New photos will then be saved as JPG. Note: you lose the HEIC space saving (~50% lighter).
Are my photos uploaded to a server?
No. All conversion happens in your browser via WebAssembly. Your photos are never sent over the internet — you can even use the tool offline after the first load.
